HELLOOOOOO???

Anybody home? I thought when I signed in there would be tons of posts - is everyone busy or away on spring break? How's it going, Marion, with the website?

Hey Mary Ellen! Thigns are good here. Did you try Pegasus? How did that go? I think I did way too much customizing for my first time through. Lessons learned -- my syllabus will be quite a bit different in the fall!

60 days until I transition to Maine.

Hi,
So good to hear from you! No, I didn't switch to Pegasus - I will be doing that next time. How do you like it?

I've been out of school for two weeks - I fell down the stairs at the university - didn't break anything, but got pretty battered. Hopefully going back on Monday - should be a long day!

We will be going to Nova Scotia this summer - Peter by motorcycle and I in the car - I'm the "designated driver" - I get to carry the luggage for the other couples. We are hoping our granddaughter will be coming with us.

Hmmm ... sounds like the demands and rigors of faculty life have gotten the best of us, at least for me they have.

Fell down the stairs!!?? Hope you are ok!!

It's definitely not been a good semester - I was out for two weeks, and still hobbling around, but no broken bones!

Say, Nolan, re the disruptive student behaviors you have listed - what do you do when they fall asleep???

I typically try to incorporate it into lecture (e.g., ... remember when we discussed the stages of sleep? here is an example of stage 2...) and point the person out. Usually the class' response will wake the individual and a neighbor will fill them in on what occurred. If this does not work, I will ask one of their neighbors to tap them on the shoulder.

Week before last, I had a student falling asleep during an exam. I chose not to disrupt the entire class given the situation and addressed with him individually.
